Lightning, Heavy Rain and Excessive Heat

All we wanted to do in June was hike.  Nature had other ideas and every day weather was either Lightning, Heavy Rain and Excessive Heat or a combination of the afore mentioned. 

There was a small break in the weather chaos one morning and we bathed in the beauty of the Forest.

P.S. 7/8/2021 Dear Arkansans, please get vaccinated! Yesterday we had 1000 new cases and 80 people on ventilators.  Seven unvaccinated people died.  We have a vaccination rate of under 45% and 1/3 of senior have not gotten even a single dose.  Delta Variant of COVID is going to kill our fellow citizens.  Fourth of July tourist filled the streets this past weekend in the state.  This influx of people from Texas, Mississippi, Missouri etc. will create even higher rates.

Everyday Should be Earth Day

After 10+ years hiking in Hot Springs National Park I love it when I see something new. I have over the years taken photos of does with fawns and lone adult bucks.  However this is my first capture of young bucks with burgeoning antlers traveling in their own herd.  Plus as a bonus I found my first Shaggy Inkcap Fungi. I Love Nature!

Back Hiking After A Year Of Long Haul COVID

Goat Rock Trail

In May a man walked up to me as I exited an elevator and coughed on me. He then walked away laughing.  By Memorial Day Weekend I was multiple symptom ill with COVID19.  The worst of it lasted 4 weeks thankfully with no cough.  However I had long haul COVID including fatigue, lack of strength and brain fog through the rest of 2020.  I received my first Moderna shot in late February and the 2nd in March which seems to thankfully have lifted my long haul symptoms. 

Thankful to be alive and strong enough to hike again with my Beloved Husband and favorite trail partner.  A little rain and wind… it was perfect.

Wandering in the Autumn Forest with Beautiful Beings

Wandering is Soul serenity.  Talk to the trees and they will reveal the beautiful beings and the tiny details lost in the great expanse.  I always thank them for allowing me into their home and ask that they might show me what often goes unseen.

Photography Hide and Seek in the Forest

Whitetail Doe Deer

You are never really alone hiking in the Forest.  Often when I hear a noise or see slight movement I  freeze and slowly raise my camera.  More often than not I never see what made the sound or produced the blur.  Sometime however in this elaborate game of hide and seek we are shocked to find we are nearly nose to nose in the dense foliage.  Such was my encounter with the black stripe whitetail deer.
