The Serviceberry (Amelanchier) Trees are in bloom. A sure sign the winged migration will begin soon as the berries are a bird favorite. Knowing where these Trees are located will aid birders each spring.
Seed pods and tiny leaves are emerging in the upper areas of Hot Springs National Park. North Mountain on the Goat Rock Trail gets an early spring start as does the Sunset Trail as it cross West, Music and Sugarloaf Mountains.
In the shade of the lower trails Violets and Oxalis are blooming. If you are coming to the park as a general rule the violet and purple wildflowers emerge first, joined later by pinks, yellows and reds. Finally a spectacular finish in late summer to early autumn of purple asters and yellow goldenrod. White is likely to appear throughout the wildflower seasons on every trail. Blue is the mystery color popping in the many unique climate zones throughout the park without any set pattern. Happy 2017 wildflower hunting!

I took photos of pink wildflowers in June of 2016 and could not find their folder. Today during a bit of PC house keeping voila my folder of pink wildflowers.
May I present my first encounter with Sabatia angularis also known as Rosepink and Rose Gentian.
