Fantasy World of Colorful Melting Ice and Freezing Fog

Every photographer has their limits, I tend to bend mine to see Nature’s beauty.  Nature has always rewarded me with a chance to capture the glory of her fierce side.  The light of the winter sun began to melt the ice coating the Forest raining chunks of ice upon the trail. Freezing fog swirled caressing the nearly leafless branches of the deciduous Trees.  The sun pierced the thinning canopy creating a fantasy world within the Forest. The pink ice and swirling green fog, it was a glorious hike.

PPS: Special Thanks to Nature for on hitting me once with one of the larger chunks of ice.  One was enough to appreciate your strength.

Below the Iced Forest Little Birds Feast on Berries

I hear the Universe within each moment of silence on the Forest trail. ~ Lee Hiller

At the base of the mountain beautiful birds feast on the exposed berries.  Competition is fierce as the ice storm has forced our winged winter residents to congregated at the lower elevation. A light crust of ice touches only the edges of the trail and has melted from the trees.  Only 250 feet higher up the mountain nearly half an inch of ice still coats the branches, berries and remaining leaves. A shimmering world wrapped on a glassy coating.  The beauty of winter has arrived.

So I am out taking a few photos in the single digit temperature and while I am deciding what to photograph I flex my fingers trying to get the circulation going. Suddenly I have a feeling I am being watched. Looking down I notice a Mockingbird standing at my feet. The sweet bird is giving me that “are you crazy it is too cold to be out here, go home” look.
