As I mentioned in an earlier blog the fog was undulating along the trails. It would go from bright to dark within minutes. In the dense fog my beloved husband Rick spotted deer leaping across the trail and head up the ridge slope. We moved slowly and when we were nearly parallel with them the fog suddenly began to lift. They stared at us then proceeded to walk past us on the slope. Normally the would have run the the other direction. I guess we were the least of their worries in the Forest fog.
Don’t forget to get out and play

The Forest reaches out to our Souls calling us to its embrace. ~ Lee Hiller
Every nature photographer has a favorite time to shoot. My favorite magic hour (sometimes it is longer) is usually found in the morning. When I see fog hanging over the mountains before sunrise it is time to hit the trails. Today the fog was a gently tide undulating through the Forest. One moment heavy with low visibility then receding to reveal Deer feeding above the trail. As the sun began to rise the fog went from grey to gold, then aqua and blue. (more photos of this hike will be in future blogs)
I had taken a photo where the light was gold and the fog had an aqua cast. Honestly I thought there is my favorite shot of the day. About 20 steps down the trail a heavy bank of fog rolled up as the sun was rising above the ridge to my right. I turn and watched as it appear all color vanished and I was left with magical landscape of fog and light in black and white.
