Wildflowers and Butterflies are a rare sight due to a lack of rain. Usually in late summer Asters and Woodland Sunflowers decorate the edges of trails throughout Hot Springs National Park. The low number of Wildflowers has meant greatly reduced population of Butterflies.

This is my first sighting of a Yellow-billed Cuckoo. Five years of hiking in Hot Springs National Park and I am always excited by the new beings (for me) I get to see.

Autumn has begun a delicate transition. The rich greens of summer fading to gold as rust creeps across the landscape. The gallery is open and I hope you will all have a chance to hike this weekend to see the show.
