Storm clouds rise over a sea of pink blossoms. The darkness and grey cannot fade the beautiful Sakura dancing on the icy breeze.

Sadly this winter we only had one day of snow in Hot Springs National Park. Fortunately I had the park to myself for a long morning hike.
A last taste of winter as I head out the door to photograph the ever changing flowering spring trees.

As winter fades the first Sakura buds open to reveal red stars among the pale pink petals. Against the grey sky they are a constellation of beauty in the tree limbs above. Drops of rain caress the blossoms reflecting one and other.

During the spring Bird migration we often missing the females. Their male counterparts are colorful and loud demanding our attention. This was only the second time I have spotted a Purple Finch and the first female. I would have missed her if she had not sang to me as I was stepping away after scanning the high limbs of the pines. She had been watching me from the bramble bellow.
