After 10+ years hiking in Hot Springs National Park I love it when I see something new. I have over the years taken photos of does with fawns and lone adult bucks.  However this is my first capture of young bucks with burgeoning antlers traveling in their own herd.  Plus as a bonus I found my first Shaggy Inkcap Fungi. I Love Nature!

Breakfast Reach – Spring Baby Squirrel

Remember to celebrate the details in the tapestry of Nature we call Earth.  A baby Squirrel reaches for breakfast in dim light of dawn.  The unrecognized garbled bird call of a Blue Jay with a full beak of spring nesting material.  Wildflowers glowing softly on the trail edge in the sunlight. All of these beautiful details weave an always changing narrative of life in the wild.

How did you spend your Earth Day this year? Yes, I would love to hear in the comments section below.

My husband and I hiked across Hot Springs and North Mountains in Host Springs National Park. Each breath that filled our lungs as we climbed higher on the trails was gift of oxygen provided by the surrounding Forest.

Earth Day is celebrated everyday in our home by:
recycling more,
driving less,
walking more often,
bringing reusable bags when we shop,
turning off the water while we brush our teeth,
eating vegan,
cooking less,
using metal water bottles and more.

Do we try to shrink our carbon footprint each year, yes! Do we always get it right… no!  Baby Steps  🙂

PS: If you lost a lovely calico cat in Hot Springs Arkansas please see the photographs in this blog.  She needs to be with her people not roaming the park.  The pictures indicate she is likely new to being feral as her coat and eyes are not dull.  She was last seen on the Rocks near the Hot Water Cascade above the Arlington Lawn.

Happy Earth Day! Please enjoy these photographs taken in the Rainforest on Hot Springs and North Mountains in Hot Springs National Park. The morning was foggy, rainy and windy perfect weather for a hike on Earth Day. I hope you will enjoy the photographs of my hike through the Rainforest. The Universe has been feeding the Forest for several days and now the creeks are full so they will provide a much needed resource for the park residents.  What others see as bad weather I see as life, these storms have been a blessing.

PS:Note to Hot Spring national Park management… having staff mow down the fields of Wildflowers on Earth Day seemed an odd way to celebrate.  Tourists and hikers actually enjoy seeing and photographing the beautiful blooms and you feature them on several pages within your website (Plants, Natural Features & Ecosystems, Outdoor Activities, Sunset Trail). The many insects that pollinate the park feed from their spectacular flowers; including but not limited to Butterflies, Moths, Bees and Wasps.  Not sure if your conservation team is communicating with the park maintenance staff, but it might be a good topic to discuss.  Wildflowers are as your website states an important part of the Ecosystem.
