I have been photographing the Cherry Blossoms in the Historic District of Hot Springs, Arkansas for the past five years. Last year I discovered Sparrows mate among the beautiful blossoms Happy Spring 2014 – Sparrows Dance of Life.
This year I learned they pick and eat the flowers. I was curious to know why are these birds were eating the buds and blossoms? The simple answer is that they are highly nutritious. Some experts believe the blooms have more nutritional value than buds giving flower eating birds an advantage in late winter and or early spring when food can be scarce.
Love to ALL!
