We step softly onto the path of a winters day wrapped in the warmth of the Universe. ~ Lee Hiller
Special thanks to everyone who helped defeat HR621. Public action saved 3.3 million acres of Our public lands. Our next goals will be to stop the following:
HR622 – ends law enforcement in National Forests and BLM land. This would invite lawlessness which includes poaching in refuges, arson, drug trade etc. making it unsafe for camping, fishing, hiking, hunting, scouting etc. Bill H.R. 622: Poacher’s Dream, Sportsman’s Nightmare?
HR520 – would allow the sale of mineral rights on public lands (National Parks, National Forests, Monuments etc.) Examples would include mining, fracking, drilling, mountain top removal. Would allow government to grab sell leases in National Parks, National Forests, Refuges etc. under the guise of National Security! “To require the Secretary of the Interior and the Secretary of Agriculture to more efficiently develop domestic sources of the minerals and mineral materials of strategic and critical importance to the economic and national security and manufacturing competitiveness of the United States, and for other purposes.”
HR861 – this would Terminate the Environmental Protection Agency aka the EPA. If you are unfamiliar with the history of their victories please take a deep breath and click to read the following. EPA Accomplishments: 25 Years of Protecting Public Health & Environment
Also when you call congress (they are currently getting 1Mil+ calls a day), email and or send letters let them know you are against the rollback of laws which stopped mining companies from dumping their debris (including but not limited to coal ash) into our rivers and streams. Remember the Dan River N.C., Kingston Tenn., Price River and Tibble Forks Utah spills. Dumping destroys drinking water, make people sick, pollutes ground, kills fish and wildlife. House Republicans Vote to End Rule Stopping Coal Mining Debris From Being Dumped in Streams
If you are so inclined your can reach Congress on 202-225-3121 to oppose these bills before they leave committees. Think of the impact of these House Bills on your favorite outdoor spaces… then call, email and or send a postcard! Thank You!
Love to ALL!
