American beautyberry is also known as French mulberry, sourbush, bunchberry, or purple beauty-berry. Found throughout Hot Springs National Park, Arkansas they are a favorite food of deer and hikers in the late summer and early autumn. Mature leaves (when plant berries have formed) contain a natural bug repellent and can be carried to ward off biting/stinging insects.
Have a lovely day on the trails.
Love to ALL!
